6th Grade Reading:

Each semester, it is a city-wide requirement that each middle schooler reads a minimum of 500 pages cumulative. That averages to be 3-5 books per semester. After each book is completed, the students in my class are required to complete a mini book report. For each student that completes these requirements successfully, there will be an end of semester reading reward!

AMP: Summarizing:

1. Topic: Ask yourself, Who or What is this about?
2. Main Idea: Ask yourself, What is the main thing the author is saying about the topic?
3. Important Details: Ask yourself, What details are needed to understand the main idea?
4. Summary: In 2-3 sentences include the main idea and a few important details to create your summary of the text
